Sarah is a longtime champion of girls and women, as she believes they are central to poverty eradication, community empowerment and economic growth. Inspired by personal experiences and academic research, she founded Girls Health Ed in 2012, a grassroots nonprofit organization, which provides peer-to-peer comprehensive health and sexuality education to adolescent girls and young women with the goal of enabling them make empowered, lifelong decisions.
Girls Health Ed's 100+ Teaching Fellows use an original curriculum created by medical, public health, and education professionals and its program is currently operating in 70+ program sites throughout the United States, Kenya and Bangladesh in partnership with community-based organizations. Girls Health Ed is on track to directly serve over 10,000 girls and young women by the end of 2023. Sarah currently serves as Board Chair.
